Department of Computer Applications
Computers are the backbone of today's era. Computing has become omnipresent with the rapid development in computer hardware and software technology. The applications of computers in almost all walks of life has made computer education a need of the hour.
BCA course was initiated at BSSS College in the academic year 1999 with the introduction of BCA course in Barkatullah University, Bhopal. The BCA course at BSSS is extremely sought after by the student community. The department has state-of-the-art computer laboratories as well as qualified and experienced faculty members to cater to the requirements of the students. The Department of Computer Applications runs a very active Cyber Club which organizes co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for bringing out the hidden talents of students. The department started functioning with the small computer lab with 30 systems in 2004. In July 2005, the department was shifted to the Archbishop Eugene Memorial Computer Lab. Its shifting to the new building added a new phase to provide practical knowledge to the students. In 2016, the department was shifted to a new wing which was inaugurated by the Archbishop of Bhopal His Grace Dr. Leo Cornelio.
The department aims to impart high quality education and prepare the young students to challenge the ever-demanding IT field. The main objectives of the department are:
Interdisciplinary Computer courses
B.Com. Computer Application
With the growing needs in the field of computer science, students with commerce background are also interested in learning computer. Thus, pursuing a course of B.Com. Computer Applications fulfils their desire to learn computer subjects as well as commerce in depth. In each semester the students of B.Com Computer Applications learn two distinct subjects of computer with traditional commerce subjects. The program consists of six semesters of a total 3 years duration.
B.B.A. and MA (S.W.)
Few computer subjects such as Basic of Computer Technology, Internet Applications, Management Information System, MS office, Database Management Systems etc are included in the courses such as MA (S.W.) and BBA.

For the fulfilment of practical requirements, the Computer Lab of the Department of Computer Applications is equipped with highly configured systems. The computer systems are maintained regularly by the lab in charge. A separate time table is also prepared for the smooth functioning of labs. Teachers take extra classes/ remedial classes before or after the class hours as per the requirement. It is also ensured that no student shares the system and does the assignment himself/herself.
