Research Methodology - Phase II

The second phase of online workshop was conducted by Dr. Meenakshi Rathi, Assistant Professor Institute for Excellence in Higher Education, Bhopal. Dr Vijay Panse introduced and greeted the resource person in the beginning of the workshop.

The session began with an overview of what is a research paper including its need and importance and other significant factors of any research paper. She then briefed the participants on the types of research methods all 8 types - descriptive research, analytical research, applied research, fundamental research, quantitative research, qualitative research, conceptual research, empirical research (all the types were briefly discussed via examples. The next focus was placed on the variables that play a major role in any research including the types of variables (with examples of each); moving on, the next was the Hypothesis which included not only the meaning but the types as well along with examples for each.

She also elucidated the students with literature review and its purpose and importance. She further gave sources for ICT in research, sources of study material from Web-Resources, resources for content, tools that can help students in preparing a questionnaire, AI based research tools. She also encapsulated the role of pre-data analysis, data analysis and post- data analysis. Concurrently she also had an open discussion with the attendees about their interest in research fields and helped them to go ahead with the same.

This phase covered the following areas of a research paper: -

2. Tools of Data Collection,
3. Plagiarism Check,
4. Review of Literature,
5. Referencing Techniques

In addition to imparting knowledge Dr. Meenakshi Rathi also encouraged the students to make efforts for making a research paper and realise their potential in this field. This online workshop was jointly organised by BSSS Incubation Cell and Department of Commerce.
