The Big Idea 2.0

16^th January 2024: 16^th January 2024, is celebrated as National Start-up Day and on the occasion of the same BSSS Incubation Centre organized The Big Idea 2.0. The Big Idea which was organized in April-May 2023 was a start-up idea pitching competition, this time it was designing the best Innovative Start-up idea with the use of Value Proposition Canvas. The canvas is a tool for start-ups to identify the problems faced by their potential customers and solutions which can be supplied to them. Also, it helps to identify what complementary facilities or add-ons customers expect apart from solutions to their problems and also the medium through which the solution will reach the customer. The event was facilitated by Mr. Arun Panicker (Manager, BSSS Incubation Centre).

The competition started with participants being provided with templates of Value Proposition Canvas, which they had to design as per their business ideas. Mr. Arun detailed the participants on both the sections which are Customer Profile and Value Map. Also, the heads under Customer Profile which are customer jobs, pains and gains similarly Value Map which consists of pain relievers, gain creators and products or services. For a better understanding, the value proposition canvas of a few successful innovative business ideas the world has seen in the past couple of decades such as Uber, Tesla, Facebook and Google were explained. The event was a guided competition, in which the participants were allowed to take assistance from Mr. Arun and online references.

There were twelve participants in the competition of which there were four who participated in a team of two each. The participants were allotted forty-five minutes to submit their designed Value Proposition Canvas. Of the twelve participants, there were three winners, who were judged based on two criteria that were innovation and precisely designing the canvas.
