Igniting Minds

5th November, 2022 - In line with the ongoing Golden Jubilee Celebration of The Bhopal School of Social Sciences “Abhisaran”, the Department of Commerce in collaboration with the BSSS Incubation Centre organised “IGNITING MINDS”, a Start-up Idea Competition. For the past couple of years entrepreneurship is on boom under the Make in India initiative and Igniting Minds gave a boost to the new and innovative ideas as per the need of market scenario. The competition was a platform for the aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators to present their business ideas. Applications were invited in advance, for which registrations were open at national level for participation. The event began with the welcoming of dignitaries, participants and audience by Dr. Smitha Pillai (Nodal Office, The BSSS Incubation Centre). Taking the session ahead, rules pertaining to the events was highlighted to the participants and the jury members. Thirteen participants presented their ideas in front of the jury of which three won the competition and the rewards. Every participant was excited to give their best and the session continued with the same glory and charm till it came to an end. The competition was organised in hybrid mode where few participants presented their ideas virtually.

The Jury comprised of experts from various sectors who encouraged the participants & also gave their valuable suggestions for excelling in their start-ups. First prize was won by Mr. Abhishek Patel who presented his business idea of Pyro Smart Electronics for which he won prize money of Rs. 11,000/-. The second prize winner was Ms. Simra Khan for her business idea of Shelby Shoes for which she got the cash prize of Rs. 6000. And the 3rd prize was given to Mr. Lakshya Meena of Rs. 3000 for his Kulhad tea cups. The Jury was very much impressed to witness such promising and potential business ideas where they also assured support to the start-ups with their experience and connections.

Principal Rev Fr Dr John PJ also announced to support Ms Anamika Sahu for her Start-up idea BeFresher.com (India's online local bazar). Many magnificent start-up ideas were presented in the competition but only the best three could be selected as winners as per the rules of the competition. The Bhopal School of Social Sciences, its Department of Commerce and the Incubation Centre have always been very supportive and have encouraged the students to develop their Entrepreneurship skills.

Dr. Ashish Dilraj (HoD, Department of Commerce) concluded the event with his concluding remark. He expressed his gratitude to all the Jury members, organizing team, faculties members and the participants to make this event a remarkable one. Dr. Dilraj humbly thanked the jury to be a part of this event despite of their busy schedule.  He presented Memento to all the Jury members and all the experts were very delighted to be a part of this outstanding event.
