20th April, 2023 - The BSSS Incubation Centre organized an online session “My Story – An entrepreneur among you” on 20th April 2023, which was delivered by Ms. Joeita Banerjee who is a Student Entrepreneur of M.Com 2021-23 batch. Ms. Joeita is having her startup in Arts & Handicraft which is named Handicrafts by Joeita with specialization in flower preservation. The purpose of the session was to promote entrepreneurial environment in the BSSS College, guide other student artisans from the college on how they can start their entrepreneurial journey and vital role played by Digital Marketing in marketing an artistic business online.
The session commenced with Mr. Arun Panicker (Manager, BSSS Incubation Centre) welcoming the guest speaker of the day Ms. Joeita Banerjee and the participants to the session and introduced Ms. Joeita with her brief introduction. Ms. Joeita then took over the session by introducing herself, her business and products to the participants.
She started discussing on how she came up with her business idea during the first Covid Lockdown when she was in the final years of graduation and planning for Post Graduation. As due to covid, academic studies and examination got delayed and she gave that time in creation of art works which were made with the help of resin. These products she started posting on social media and were liked by the audience, who started placing orders to create similar products for them. Meanwhile she started her R&D on what other art products she can design and manufacture with resin. With more work orders for flower preservation design, which slowly turned into her specialization.
She then focused on how social media helped in her business, for getting customers from various parts of India. In social media, the importance of keywords and proper use of hashtag was detailed by her. How her R&D on various keywords that can be used in her organic marketing campaigns.
Ms. Joeita also detailed on problems faced by her in various aspects of business such as procurement and logistics. Also, how she countered these problems by identifying number of solutions which won’t make these problems a barrier in the future operations of business. Ms. Joeita Banerjee in the final moments of the session offered her support and guidance to other artisans from the college who want to start their entrepreneurial journey in arts and handicraft, also motivating them to explore the opportunity.
The session concluded with Arun Panicker presenting the vote of thanks to Dr. Fr. John P.J. (Principal BSSS College), Dr. Sr. Sonia Kurian (Vice Principal, BSSS College), Prof. Smitha Pillai (Nodal Officer, BSSS Incubation Centre), Ms. Joeita Banerjee for sharing her entrepreneurial journey and all the participants of the session.
