"NIPAM" Webinar on IPR

17th November, 2022 - The BSSS IQAC in collaboration with the BSSS Incubation Centre organized a webinar on Intellectual Property Rights, National IP Awareness Mission “NIPAM” on 17th November 2022. The session was delivered by Mr. Suman Sil from Intellectual Property Office, the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM), Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

NIPAM comes under the initiative of the Government’s “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” and was launched on 8-12-2021. The pan-India ambitious mission aims to provide awareness on intellectual property and its rights to 1 million students. It aims to inculcate the spirit of creativity and innovation to students of higher education (classes 8 to 12) and ignite and inspire the students of college/Universities to innovate and protect their creations. For the webinar the registration was open for everyone, as the flyer was circulated in and outside the college too.

The session started at 03:00 pm on 17th November 2022 and Ms. Sukhmanjeet Kaur (IPR Coordinator, IIC Council) welcomed the dignitaries to the webinar and introduced Mr. Suman Sil to the participants. The session was attended by one hundred participants and the participants were provided with a participation certificate which was issued by Govt. of India. Post the introduction the resource person Mr. Suman Sil detailed the following topics

  1. IPR
  2. Patent, Copyright, Trademark
  3. Importance of IPR
  4. Process of filing an IPR
  5. National & International Bodies related to IPR

      After the session, a Q&A session was conducted where participants queries were answered. The session was concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Arun Panicker (Manager, BSSS Incubation Centre), where the contribution of BSSS IQAC headed by Dr. Sheeba Joseph and BSSS Incubation Centre Nodel Officer Dr. Smitha Pillai were well mentioned. He also the student coordinators for the smooth conduction of the event. Also, feedback on the session was collected online and evaluated. It is found that majority of participants were fully satisfied with the information they have received from the session.
