National Conference on WOMEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP – CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

16th September 2022 - The national conference was organized by Rabindranath Tagore University in association with MSME, APEDA & Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) on 15th and 16th September 2022. The Students of M.Com III  Semester and Students of BA Economics attended the two days’ conference.

The main objective of the conference was to promote women entrepreneurship and budding entrants, to provide platform for discussion on the current scenario of women entrepreneurship in research areas, to access the new prospects and provide solution for their problems.

An Exhibition was also held by RNTU to promote and provide a platform to the women entrepreneurs of nearby Bhopal. Products like handmade sarees, cookies made of jaggery, handcrafted diya and other handicrafts items were displayed.

Renowned speakers like Pallavi Rao Chaturvedi, Pushpa Parolkar, Umang Sridhar, Rajeev Agrawal were present there to share their success story and inspire the students. Mrs. Umang Sridhar, founder of khaDigi, a business-to-business fabric supplier platform which aims to inspire women in rural India shared her inspiring life story and how she is helping women from rural India to grow their business and be independent. Mrs Pallavi Rao Chaturvedi, founder of Brainy Bear, is one of India’s fastest growing parenting platforms. The women entrepreneurs who settled their business with the help of AISECT were present. They share their challenges faced by them and how they overcame and are running their business successfully.

A panel discussion was setup to guide the students and women out there to open their business. A technical session was also held for the paper presenters from all over India. The themes for paper were: Cultural diversity, Job creation, Women social entrepreneurship and government support for women   entrepreneurship. Thereafter, a valedictory session was held announcing the winner for presenting papers. Our students actively participated in the interactive session and also learned about how to set up a business. It was really a great learning platform for all the participants. The students expressed her sincere gratitude towards the coordinators of the event, from the college, Dr Smitha Pillai (Department of Commerce) and Dr Shumayela Hasan (Department of Economics) for providing them such a great learning opportunity.
