Session on Psychological First Aid held in BSSS

Department of Psychology, in collaboration with the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI) and IEHE Bhopal, hosted a transformative session on Psychological First Aid. The event, held from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, aimed to equip attendees with essential skills to provide immediate support to those in distress.
The session witnessed the esteemed presence of Dr Fr John PJ, Principal of BSSS College, Dr Vinay Mishra, HoD of the Psychology Department, along with students and distinguished guests including Dr Rucharia Chaudhary from FPAI and Dr Anupam Shukla, HoD of Psychology Department at IEHE. The expert and resource person for the session was Dr Reena Rajput, who has years of experience as a Consultant Counselling Psychologist, Motivational Trainer and Academician in Psychology.

Before the commencement of the session, Dr Rucharia Chaudhary, representing the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), enlightened the audience about FPAI's pivotal role in advocating for gender and youth rights. She emphasized how students could become the cornerstone of the organization, contributing significantly to its noble cause.

The session led by Dr Reena Rajput delved into the significance of prompt and empathetic responses to individuals grappling with stress or trauma. Dr. Reena debunked the misconception that Psychological First Aid is exclusive to psychologists, advocating that it is a skillset accessible to all, benefiting the wider community.

Utilizing interactive activities, Dr. Reena imparted practical techniques of Psychological First Aid, ensuring active student engagement. Emphasizing the importance of self-care, she elucidated how extending compassion to others can enhance personal well-being.

The session concluded with participants equipped with invaluable tools to provide immediate psychological support, fostering a culture of empathy and well-being within the college community.
