About BSSS SAATH

BSSS SAATH (Support, Awareness, Acceptance, Trust, Healing) is the Psychological Counselling Cell of Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS). The cell is a dedicated initiative aimed at promoting students’ mental health, emotional resilience, and holistic development through professional, confidential, and compassionate psychological support.

Psychological counselling is a structured and professional process that helps individuals understand their emotions, thoughts, and behaviours while developing effective coping strategies. At BSSS SAATH, counselling is viewed not only as a remedial service but also as a preventive, educative, and developmental process, supporting students through academic, personal, social, and emotional challenges.

Nature of Psychological Counselling

Provided by trained mental health professionals and psychology faculty.

Ensuring privacy, trust, and ethical practice.

Focused on individual needs, experiences, and strengths.

Helping students achieve clarity, growth, and emotional balance.

Using appropriate therapeutic approaches such as CBT, humanistic and supportive counselling.

Psychological Counselling Services on Campus

Support for managing exam anxiety, workload stress, procrastination, and academic burnout.

Assistance with homesickness, social adjustment, identity concerns, and adapting to college life.

Counselling for anxiety, depression, emotional distress, mood concerns, and psychological well-being.

Enhancing self-awareness, decision-making, emotional regulation, and life skills.

Support for interpersonal conflicts, peer issues, communication skills, and emotional boundaries.

Immediate psychological support during emotional crises, trauma, grief, or distressing events.

Guidance and referral support for issues related to substance use, addiction, and risk behaviours.

A safe and inclusive space to explore concerns related to identity, gender, culture, and belonging.

Assistance with career uncertainty, goal setting, and managing future-related stress.

Promoting early help-seeking, resilience, and emotional well-being before problems escalate.

To offer confidential, ethical, and professional psychological counselling services that support students’ emotional well-being, personal growth, and academic success, while fostering a mentally healthy campus culture.

Core Activities

BSSS SAATH actively works toward creating a mentally healthy campus through preventive and outreach initiatives. These activities are designed to reduce stigma, promote awareness, and encourage timely help-seeking among students.

  • Mental health awareness campaigns (stress, anxiety, depression, well-being)
  • Orientation programs for freshers and new entrants
  • Psychoeducation sessions on emotional health, adjustment, and coping
  • Collaboration with student bodies, clubs, and academic departments
