BSSS Commemorates Indian Social Work Day with Climate Change Awareness Session
In celebration of Indian Social Work Day, The Bhopal School of Social Sciences hosted a significant awareness session on Climate Change, organized by the Social Outreach Enabling Unit in collaboration with the Department of Social Work. The event brought together students, faculty, and distinguished guests to reflect on the role of youths in addressing global challenges, with a particular focus on the urgent issue of climate change.
Dr. Rajesh Sisodiya, Deputy Director of the National Program on Climate Change and Human Health at the National Health Mission, Bhopal, and Mr. Ram Ratan Simaiya, representing the Environment Planning & Coordination Organization (EPCO) Bhopal, served as the key resource persons for the session. Their expertise and insights provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the intersection between climate change and social work.
Dr. Rajesh Sisodiya delved into the intricate connections between climate change and human health, shedding light on the importance of a collaborative approach in addressing these complex challenges.
Dr. Prabha Biju, the charge of the Social Outreach Enabling Unit, expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests and underscored the pivotal role of social work in advocating for environmental justice. The event culminated with students pledging their commitment to working towards climate change mitigation and sustainable practices. As an outcome of the event student volunteer team was formed to make the community aware of climate change.
