The Department of Humanities at The Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS), Bhopal, organized an educational field visit for BA students to Mahodiya village near Sehore. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical knowledge about the Panchayati Raj system and grassroots governance.
During the visit, Panchayat Secretary Mr. Gopal Das interacted with the students and explained the structure and functioning of the Panchayati Raj system. He elaborated on the roles and responsibilities of the Gram Sabha, Sarpanch, and Panchayat members, and explained how local governance operates at the village level.
Students were also taken on a guided tour of key village institutions, including the Anganwadi Centre and the Government School, where they observed the implementation of welfare schemes and basic public services at the grassroots level.
The visit helped students understand the social, economic, and administrative aspects of rural life. An interesting highlight of the visit was that Mahodiya village has been used as a shooting location for the popular web series “Panchayat,” which sparked curiosity and excitement among the students.
Through this field visit, students gained valuable insights into rural administration, community participation, and the importance of decentralized governance in India.
The Department of Humanities expressed gratitude to the Panchayat officials and the residents of Mahodiya village for their cooperation and informative interaction, which made the visit a meaningful learning experience for the students.
