The Department of Social Work, BSSS Hosts Day 2 Two-Day Research Methodology Workshop!

The Department of Social Work, BSSS successfully conducted a two-day Research Methodology Workshop

The workshop aimed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge in research methodology, catering to both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Led by esteemed resource persons from various departments within the institution, the event fostered insightful discussions and practical learning experiences.

Day one of the workshop commenced with an illuminating session on the fundamentals of research methodology, including an exploration of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods of research, research designs, and identification of research problems. Dr. Jessy John, a distinguished professor from BSSS-IAS, guided participants through these key concepts.

Following a brief tea break, Dr. John continued the session by delving into formulating research questions, hypotheses, and sampling techniques. Participants engaged in interactive discussions, gaining valuable insights into these crucial aspects of the research process.

The second resource person for the first day - Dr.Smitha Pillai, a seasoned academic from the Department of Management at BSSS, led an informative session on the importance of literature review, APA citation guidelines, and ethical considerations in research.

Day two, commenced with Dr.Rutwik J. Gandhe, Head of the Department of Social Work at BSSS, elucidating interpretations of essential statistical tests using SPSS. Participants gained practical knowledge in descriptive statistics, reliability tests, parametric and non-parametric tests, among others.

The next session was led by Dr. Vijay Panse, an expert from the Department of Computer Applications at BSSS, who guided the participants through data analysis using MS Excel, covering mathematical formulas, graph creation, and pivot tables.

The workshop concluded with a session by Mr.Mukesh Kumar, Assistant Professor from the Department of Social Work at BSSS, who led an insightful session on qualitative data analysis, focusing on argument construction, paragraph building, and report writing.

All sessions were accompanied by comprehensive Q&A sessions with resource persons, allowing participants to clarify doubts and solidify their understanding of research methodology.

The Research Methodology Workshop at the Bhopal School of Social Sciences proved to be a resounding success, empowering participants with valuable skills and insights essential for their academic and professional endeavors.
