BSSS Aagaz: Celebration of World Tourism Day with Tradition and Enthusiasm

The Department of Commerce and the World Tourism Day Committee at The Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS) organized the "Aagaz" event on 21 September 2026 to kick off the week-long celebrations leading up to World Tourism Day. The event highlighted the vibrancy of India's cultural heritage and the youthful energy of students.

The key attraction of the event was a grand Shobha Yatra (procession), led by female students riding scooters and motorcycles while dressed in traditional attire. The active participation of a large number of female students added to the grandeur of the event, symbolizing empowerment, enthusiasm, and the dynamic spirit of tourism. This unique blend of tradition and modernity reflected the progressive spirit of tourism and cultural exchange.

The Shobha Yatra was inaugurated by BSSS College Principal Dr. Fr. John P.J. In his address, he highlighted the importance of tourism as a bridge between cultures and a catalyst for global understanding.

Special guests included Mrs. Meeta Wadhwa and senior Doordarshan journalist Mr. Aditya Srivastava. The program was organized under the leadership of World Tourism Coordinator Dr. Sushma Tirkey. Both guests spoke on the significance of World Tourism Day in raising awareness about tourism’s role in social, cultural, and economic development. Their insights inspired students to view tourism not just as travel, but as a powerful means of peace, stability, and cultural preservation.
