NATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATED AT BSSS

The Department of Philosophy in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education and BSSS students club Spartans jointly organized a One-day Practical session on Yoga to commemorate ‘National Youth Day held on Thursday,12th January 2023 to celebrate the Indian thinker, philosopher, and social leader, Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary. Vivekananda was adored by the people of the country and was considered one of India’s greatest social leaders.

The Resource Person for the session was Mr. Rahul Sharma a well-known certified Yoga instructor from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi Vishwavidyalaya.The objective of the session was to make the students aware of the significance of Yoga and the different yoga postures, yoga asanas, and exercises that could make them flexible, alert, and active which would lead to better concentration in studies, sports, and extra-curricular activities. Many students attended the program which began with a warm-up session, deep breathing and stretching followed by demonstrating different asanas and explaining to the students about its benefits. It started with Vrikshasana, which helps to improve balance, gives the body a proper posture, and boosts concentration thereby building inner and outer strength followed by another yoga posture downward facing dog which is an effective yoga pose that can help relieve chronic pains caused by sitting, tight hamstrings.

Mr. Rahul Sharma also demonstrated a few yoga postures that could help to combat feelings of depression and fatigue and also showed the mountain Pose or Tadasana, which is a basic yoga pose that allows students to calm their mind followed by another yoga posture known as naukasan which helps to improve and regulate their digestion, including alleviating excessive gas and easing constipation. The Resource Person made the students aware of the benefits of practicing meditation on a regular basis.

The speakers at the end of the session addressed the queries raised by the students regarding the diet to be followed for better concentration and weight gain. The details of the Resource Person were shared with the students for future reference.PRO Ms. Manju Mehta shared that the session was highly informative and beneficial for the youth who were eagerly looking for more such sessions in the future.
