INTER-COLLEGIATE DANCE COMPETITION UNFURLED ITS SPLENDID COLOURS AT BSSS: UNDER YOUTH FESTIVAL
The Bhopal School of Social Sciences hosted the inter-college Dance Competition on 7th October 2023 as one of the segments of the Youth Festival of the academic year 2023-24. It provided a plethora of opportunities to help students develop various fundamental skills. It was a great way to build emotional resilience in performers which supported raising self-confidence and self-esteem of the performers. Such events are an indication of union among the students.
A spirit of unity and dynamism filled the air with the Lighting of the auspicious Lamp of Knowledge which was done by the Chief Guest, Ms Sweta Sharma- renowned Kathak dancer of the region, Dr Sr. Sonia Kurian- Vice Principal, BSSS, Dr Fr. Jomy Panithas - Dean Academics, two student representatives from the college.
The competition was organized at the Jubilee Auditorium of BSSS Campus. Jovial smiles and high spirits marked the competition to another level. It manifested youth and enthusiasm at its best.
The entire auditorium echoed with thrilling performances of cultural, folk-themed dance performances. The students unleashed their creative energy and put up beautiful arches and banners throughout the campus to celebrate the day. The varied performances created furious enthusiasm in the atmosphere. Pulsating ambience, flashing lights and foot-tapping dance songs set the mood of the party right. The excitement augmented to a joyful high as performances graced the stage. The mercury began to rise when the dance floor was left open for some unbridled energy. Joy and happiness could be seen among students of each group. The ambience was full of fun, gaiety, and enthusiasm. Ms. Shweta Sharma who was globally recognised in the area of Kathak was the chief guest of the day. In her address, she said that students should not limit their knowledge to books but to all-round development.
Garvita Dongre of BSSS College bagged the first position in Solo Dance Completion. Whereas Vani Sharma of IEHE and Bhoomi Sahu of Sarojini Naidu Govt. Girls College bagged the second and third positions. Under the category of Group Dance performances, IPER bagged the first position, MKPONDA and Career College of Law bagged the second and third positions. Dr. Fr. John P.J. Principal BSSS in his address motivated all the teams and mentioned that events like these play an active role in diverting the energy of the youth in a positive direction and connecting them with their heritage.
