‘Author Speaks ‘– A symposium at BSSS

The Department of English, BSSS, hosts a Symposium Entitled "Author Speaks” Featuring the latest Novel Zaira

8th Aug, 2024 — BSSS recently had the privilege of hosting a symposium titled "Author Speaks," featuring the esteemed author and academic, Ms. Vinita Dhondiyal Bhatnagar. The event, which drew a significant audience of literature enthusiasts and students, was centred around the launch of Ms. Bhatnagar's latest novel, Zaira.

Ms. Bhatnagar, who is a professor in the Humanities Department at RGPV University, Bhopal, and an alumna of Lady Shri Ram College, engaged the audience with her insights into the art of storytelling. The session was moderated by Mr. Rajeev Mishra, a respected academician, host, and speaker, who guided the conversation with Ms. Bhatnagar.

During the discussion, Ms. Bhatnagar emphasized the importance of characterization in writing, stating that well-developed characters are vital for creating stories that resonate with readers. "Without strong character development, a story may fail to hold the reader's interest," she remarked. She mentioned that the characters in her book Zaira are well designed to resonate the emotions of modern day.

The symposium also featured a quiz competition, with winners receiving copies of Zaira as giveaways. The event concluded with a dynamic Q&A session, where Ms. Bhatnagar provided thoughtful and enlightening answers to the audience's questions. She left the audience with a memorable takeaway, stating, "The antidote to death is love; the only thing that doesn't die."

The symposium was a successful and enriching experience for all attendees, offering a unique opportunity to engage with the creative process of a seasoned author and to explore the themes of her latest work.
