CHAT SHOW at BSSS Bhopal

CHAT SHOW at BSSS Bhopal

The Bhopal School of Social Sciences organized Archbishop Eugene Memorial Inter-School Chat Show on the topic, “Is Social Media Perilous for Social Life?” A total of 38 schools participated in the event including Wilsonia School from Moradabad, UP. The students expressed their opinions For and Against the motion in a zealous and enthusiastic manner. Experts from various fields of education and academia evaluated participants on both the basis of content and how it was communicated.
The event started when Rev. Dr. Fr. John P J, Principal BSSS College, welcomed all the members of various schools and Judges: Mrs. Rita Verma, Mrs. Bindu Ramakant, Mrs. Heena and Mrs. Rashmi Bawa. Rev. Father remembered the selfless service done by the then Archbishop and the founder member Rev. Eugene D’Souza who put untiring efforts in establishing the BSSS college in 1972. With great pleasure Fr. John told everyone about BSSS Institute of Advanced Studies, as a mark of service towards education which is dedicated to MBA education.
The participants raised their opinions that social media is perilous because it creates anxiety, depression, issues of self-image and peddles fake news at times which may lead to dangerous consequences. Some other participants spoke in favour of social media being a source of quick connects among families and friends and information exchange, social networking for business and fruitful for civic engagements like social awareness, fund raising, and a source of remote employment. Audience was kept captivated by asking questions in between and given gift hampers for correct answers. The prizes were awarded in different categories as: Winners FOR the motion was Team from St. Joseph’s Co-Ed School, Arera colony: Ananya Tiwari and Pranav Juneja; Winners AGAINST the motion: Himadri Trivedi and Vedanshi Dubey from St. Xavier’s Sr. Sec.
