The Committee for Students with Special Disabilities at BSSS, Bhopal celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing an exclusive interview of Ms. Puja Subramaniam, National Awardee, Entrepreneur and Educationist, on BSSS Rhythm YouTube Channel.
The Committee facilitates the empowerment of the persons with disabilities along with creating sensitization among the students to share concerns, learning, and information towards these special citizens of our nation. Incharge, CSD, Gaurav Atri, added that this Women’s Day they have invited Ms. Puja S to share her leadership story with more than 50,000 listeners of BSSS Rhythm which has its coverage in around 30 countries across the globe.
Born with a rare progressive disorder but with the grit to take every challenge in stride, Puja established herself as a successful entrepreneur. and educator and a disability rights activist. In her conversation with RJ Anurag of BSSS Rhythm, she deliberated about how her reduced mobility, weak grip, and frail voice never deterred her resolve to dream big. She struggled hard and became the recipient of several prestigious awards including the National Award as Role Model for persons with disability conferred by the President of India.
Addressing the young generation, she told RJ Anurag, BSSS, Rhythm that talking on the podcast was like returning to college. She said she was rejected for her college placement, then she decided to become a job giver rather than a job seeker. Hunger to learn keeps her motivated and reading about the challenges faced by others. She said today there is a positive change for start-ups. There are two key concepts to getting good jobs, one work on your skills and follow your passion.
Puja elaborated that family support has been like a strong pillar for her. She narrated the story of how she was awarded the President’s award. She says she is a highly positive person. “Wings welfare” is a social venture by her for giving back to society. She stressed that counseling is important for mental health. She told RJ Anurag that even though she is suffering from a progressive disorder she focuses on the highs of life. She is a classical state-level singer and a painter. She inspired that everyone should do a SWOT analysis of her life to deal with failures in life.
She narrated her life stories which will prove inspirational to the special people with such disabilities. The committee believes that this podcast with Puja Subramaniam will bring a positive change in the lives of many such people. She concluded that the only change she wants is that our society should become compassionate in every sphere of our life to make this world a better place.
